She was carrying a 13-pound tumor as well as two lesser tumors down her left mammary chain.

She was frail and had a high fever, as well as a nasty skin infection on her haunches and tail. Preparing her for surgery was a nerve-racking procedure, knowing that every day that passed raised the possibility of the tumor rupturing.

It was critical, however, that she see the appropriate veterinary specialists and complete all necessary testing and pre-surgical treatment. Doctors also had to increase her weight so she could tolerate the anesthesia.

All of these initiatives were made to improve her chances of surviving a procedure that was predicted to involve significant blood loss and had a higher than usual fatality risk. It also worked!

On December 8th, Nina went in for major surgery, and she came out with flying colors.

She moved to one of Wright-top Way’s medical foster families when she had sufficiently healed from surgery, and she has been prospering!

Post-surgical biopsy results revealed that the smaller tumors were benign, while the larger one was a soft tissue sarcoma, as expected.

All signs indicate to a full recovery, and she will soon be able to find a permanent home. Finally, Nina has a loving family who looks after and adores her.
