Former Cowboys Star Reacts To Ezekiel Elliott Getting Cut

On Wednesday, the team announced its decision to part ways with the veteran running back after a seven-year partnership.

Zeke had been with the Cowboys since they selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 draft. Through his time in Dallas, he became synonymous with “America’s Team.”

“Zeke was the heart and soul. Him and this offensive line is the reason why we started thinking about Dallas in the way we think about the Dallas Cowboys,” he said on NFL Live.

Elliott was set to count $16.7 million against the cap in 2023 with a $10.9 million non-guaranteed base salary. The 27-year-old running back will be designated as a post-June 1 cut to free up nearly $11 million in cap space for the Cowboys this coming season.

Elliott, a three-time Pro Bowler, finished his 2022 season with a career-low 876 yards through 15 games. However, he did continue his reputation as a goal-line threat with 12 touchdowns.

There’s no question that the Cowboys will have a different vibe without Elliott on the roster next season.
