The behaviors exhibited by tree frogs raised by humans are truly hilarious

When you think about home pets, it doesn’t just mean a dog or a cat. Nowadays, people have been domesticating other creatures like tarantulas, snakes, and geckos, and even some of the princes of Saudi Arabia have lions or tigers as their home pets.

One of the uprising stars in a household is the frog and it pretty much looks like this person fell in love with this amphibian. The person behind the YouTube channel called ‘ぴよのカエルch’ or ‘piyo no frog ch’ as translated hosts a lot of adorable videos of different types of frogs.

If you are having a bad day, her videos could give you peace even for just a short while. This video in particular which now has over 11 million views features a White’s tree frog who thinks she can eat everything in front of her.

White’s tree frogs and things you should know about them.

A White’s tree frog is a good choice for those planning to have a pet frog for the first time.

Just like owls and bats, this type of frog is nocturnal, which means it is more active in the evening. White’s tree frogs are known to be sedentary and docile, they are really perfect for first-timers since they are usually tame and tolerant of handling.

However, just like other amphibians, White’s tree frogs have very absorbent skin that takes up chemicals easily. One must handle them with utmost care to avoid harming these little jumpers.

So, as precautionary measures, before touching them, you must wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and rinse them well with non-chlorinated water. Keep in mind that even the natural oils and salts from human skin might harm them.

Never use lotions or soaps before handling them as the residues on your skin are toxic to frogs.

The White’s tree frog in this video was probably hungry.

In the 2:22-long video, the frog kept on launching tiny bites on her owner’s fingers and she only stopped at the mid-part of the video. The owner also said (using closed captions) that her frog thinks people’s hands are either food or some sort of vehicle.

White’s tree frog usually eats live crickets, insecticide-free moths, beetles, cockroaches, grasshoppers, and earthworms. Just keep in mind that most frogs like them tend to have obesity issues, so make sure to regulate their diet.

Whatever your pet may be, it always goes along with a huge responsibility not only in keeping them healthy and alive. Having a pet at home also requires you as an owner in making sure they don’t pose any threat to other members of your household, especially in your neighborhood.
