The Ottawa Senators have made a depth signing, as GM Steve Staios steals a former Blackhawks defenseman.

The Senators, after making a huge splash to acquire Ullmark, have made a decidedly bargain move to acquire Filip Roos.

Roos, who played the majority of his career in the AHL with Rockford IceHogs signed a one-year, two-way deal for $775K AAV.

Roos would only play four-games at the NHL level with the Blackhawks last season, limited to no points.

But would played 59 games in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, scoring 16 points( 2 G, 14 A) and 20 PIMs.

The #Senators 🇨🇦 have signed defenseman Filip Roos (@filiproos) 🇸🇪 to a two-year deal worth $775K AAV.

Roos, 25, had two goals, 16 points through 59 games played with the Rockford Icehogs (AHL) 🇺🇸 — he also played for games played with the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) 🇺🇸, failing to register a point

The signing was likely more or less an AHL signing and any team will need a call-up from time to time. This deal was no different, as he has defined himself as a regular in the AHL, but hasn’t made an impact in the NHL.
