Connor Bedard’s next contract is going to break Blackhawks’ record books

The Blackhawks cashed in all their luck at the NHL draft lottery last year and selected Connor Bedard with the first overall pick.

Bedard then went on to win rookie of the year even with a shortened season due to a broken jaw, with 61 points in 69 games.

Well, with the future of the franchise in hand, Kyle Davidson and his team knows a big payday is in hand in exactly two seasons. But what contract is he going to get? Well, one fan took to X to speculate.

«I really curious what Connor Bedard’s first contract extension is going to look like

8×10.5M?
8×12.5M?
8x14M?
6×9.8M?

The kid could cash in a MAJOR bag, but I could also see him taking a slight discount with intentions of being a more competitive team.»

If Connor wanted to go all-in on money, he can probably get upwards of $14 million on a long-term deal. Or, if he wants to go team friendly, he can sign a long-term deal with less of an AAV.

He deserves the big bucks, though. And he should get the big life changing contract.
