Kadarius Toney is in the midst of a critical training camp for his future not only with the Chiefs, but in the NFL at large. He’s remarkably talented but struggled to put everything together, and now he’s helping cause drama during the fourth day of practice.

Players get chippy at camp and often battle, especially when you’re practicing in the muggy St. Joseph heat, and we’ve got our first kerfuffle of the new campaign.

After getting drilled by George Karlaftis, Toney took offense to the level of physicality and threw the ball at his teammate, causing a scuffle.

There’s no need to draw any major conclusions from the incident. These things happen at camp, though it’s interesting that Toney, of all players, is who helped cause the problem.

Toney notably went on a bizarre Instagram rant in the playoffs last year. While he claimed it wasn’t him, he was ultimately a healthy scratch in the postseason run and his off-field antics have drawn attention in the past.

Considering how highly the organization thinks of Toney’s talent, the team’s brass clearly wants him to make the team. However, Toney is not in any kind of position to start drama given his struggles last season.

Perhaps this moment will inspire him to string off a series of great practices once the pads get on. To Karlaftis’ credit, the man looks ready to roll right now. The hit he layed on Toney was brutal, and Toney’s frustration was warranted even if he shouldn’t have thrown the ball.

Training camp is back, folks, and this is likely the first skirmish of many.
