Tom Brady has named the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers as major threats to the Kansas City Chiefs’ ambitions of clinching a Super Bowl three-peat.

The Chiefs, who have emerged victorious in the NFL’s grand finale three times in the last four years, are led by the formidable duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. With coach Andy Reid at the helm, they’re shaping up to be a modern-day NFL dynasty, but it’s yet to be seen if they can maintain their dominance this season.

Even the dominant New England Patriots under Bill Belichick’s leadership didn’t manage to secure three consecutive Super Bowl wins. Reflecting on this, the now-retired Brady, who was pivotal for the Patriots during those years, acknowledged that he views the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals as potential disruptors in the AFC.

In a chat with Stephen A Smith, the legendary quarterback, who boasts seven Super Bowl rings, highlighted the quarterbacks of both teams as key factors that could pose a challenge to the Chiefs. He said: “I would say it’s, man all those teams are going to be tough, I think it’s still the Bills or the Bengals because of their quarterback play.

“They are right up there. They are exceptional. The Ravens just have to do more in the postseason for me to feel like okay, they are right there. The Bengals have made it to a Super Bowl. The Bills have been in championship games.”

When asked about the strongest teams in the NFL, apart from the Chiefs, he stated: “I think it’s still probably the 49ers and the Packers, I think, are going to be a great team. I think the Rams are going to be a good team, too. Very good offense, receiving corps.

“They lost Aaron Donald, nobody can replace him but they’ve drafted really well, got a really underrated defense. I think that’s going to be a team to watch, too.”

Brady also believes three-time Super Bowl winner Mahomes is currently the top quarterback in the league. He said: “In my opinion, he’s the best quarterback in the NFL. I could talk about his physical skills, but do you know why I look at him and I say he’s great?

“I see the way that he’s endeared himself to his teammates. I see the joy they have when they’re out there playing together… I’m listening to the press conferences as much as I’m watching him throw a tight spiral. That’s ultimately what that position is about.”

The Chiefs will kick-off their season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 6 as they aim to make history this season by becoming the first NFL team to win the Super Bowl three years consecutively. They will play the Bengals nine days later.
