The Buffalo Bills (9-2) handed the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (10-1) their first loss of the year and snapped their 15-game winning streak during Sunday’s 30-21 win in the NFL’s regular-season game of the year. A large reason behind Buffalo’s sixth straight win was the play of quarterback Josh Allen, who sealed the victory with his 26-yard touchdown run on a 4th & 2 play late in the fourth quarter.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by discussing why Josh Allen has become the NFL’s leading MVP candidate heading into Week 12 of the 2024 NFL season.
Josh Allen is the leading MVP candidate heading into Week 12
In knocking the Chiefs from the ranks of the undefeated, Josh Allen produced his 15th career game with at least 250 passing yards and at least 50 rushing yards, the most ever in the history of the NFL. After guiding the Bills to a 9-2 record through 11 games for the first time since the 1992 season, Allen has emerged as the favorite to win NFL MVP honors. Allen has passed for 2,543 yards with 18 TDs and only five INTs, and is completing 64% of his passes, and he’s rushed for 316 yards with five TDs. But his passing number don’t tell the whole story of why Allen has ascended to the top of the NFL’s MVP race.
How the Bills could clinch AFC East before 49ers game
At 9-2, the Bills hold a 4.5-game lead over the Miami Dolphins (4-6) and a six-game lead over both the New England Patriots (3-8) and the New York Jets (3-8) in the race to win the AFC East with six games remaining in the season. Below, a run through scenarios that would allow Buffalo to wrap up its fifth straight divisional title before the team takes the field for its Sunday Night Football game vs. the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, December 1.
