One of the best moves that the Green Bay Packers made this NFL offseason was signing running back Josh Jacobs and releasing Aaron Jones. Jacobs is 26 years old and played with the Las Vegas Raiders for his entire NFL career before playing for the Packers.

This season in the NFL, he has rushed for 1,147 yards on 265 carries and 12 touchdowns, along with averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Josh Jacobs this season for the Green Bay Packers is third in the NFL in rushing yards and he is fourth in the NFL in rushing attempts. Green Bay Packers Find Potential Running Back Of the Future With Selecting Running Back Nicholas Singleton From the Penn State Nittany Lions In the Third-Round Of the 2025 NFL Draft

During the NFL offseason in 2024, one of the things that the Green Bay Packers had to address was fixing the running back position. They did a good job of that by signing Josh Jacobs and also drafting Marshawn Lloyd from USC in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Green Bay also brought back A.J. Dillon on a one-year deal. However, Jacobs has been the primary back for Green Bay this season because of injuries to other players at the running back position. Brad Menendez of draftcountdown.com has the Green Bay Packers selecting running back Nicholas Singleton with the 91st overall selection (third-round pick) in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Menendez said about the star running back from Penn State:
“Although the Packers are well-stocked at running back, selecting Nick Singleton is a forward-thinking move. Josh Jacobs is aging, and AJ Dillon has yet to claim a long-term lead-back role fully (and is hurt). Marshawn Lloyd has had an injury-riddled rookie campaign to boot. Singleton provides a blend of power and speed that fits the Packers’ offensive philosophy. He offers immediate depth and potential as a future RB1. Drafting Singleton here ensures Green Bay remains competitive in the backfield for years.”
The interesting thing is that Josh Jacobs is only 26 years old and it looks like he could be the star running back on the Green Bay Packers roster for the next few seasons. What Green Bay will need is a reliable backup for Jacobs. Head Coach Matt LaFleur probably didn’t want to give him so many carries this season, but he kind of had no choice.
A.J. Dillon probably will not be brought back next season. It will be interesting to see what Marshawn Lloyd would do in training camp and in preseason next year if healthy for the Green Bay Packers.

Singletary this season for the Penn State Nittany Lions has rushed for 928 yards on 145 carries and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 6.4 yards per carry. He also has caught 39 passes for 342 yards receiving and five touchdowns, along with averaging 8.8 yards per reception.
He is 6’0″ and weighs 227 lbs. The Penn State Nittany Lions star running back is looking to rush for over 1,000 yards this season. Penn State will face the Boise State Broncos in the next round of the college football playoffs. Nicholas Singletary would be a good choice in the 2025 NFL Draft for the Green Bay Packers for depth reasons.
