Blank Park Zoo Transforms Into Dino Park Zoo This Summer

The Blank Park Zoo is set to embark on a thrilling prehistoric adventure as it temporarily rebrands itself as Dino Park Zoo starting this July. This transformation comes as part of an extraordinary dinosaur-themed experience that will captivate visitors until the end of October. Featuring 15 life-size animatronic dinosaurs, courtesy of world-renowned dinosaur expert Don Lessem, the event promises to deliver an immersive glimpse into the age of dinosaurs.

Life-like animatronic dinosaurs will populate the zoo this summer.

This summer marks the first time in over 40 years that the zoo will change its name and logo, making it a special occasion for both locals and visitors. The dinosaurs, which include a towering 40-foot T-rex and a massive Triceratops, are not only aesthetically impressive but also feature realistic functions — they breathe, roar, and even mimic more humorous bodily functions like farting.

As zoo officials have highlighted, this initiative aims to connect the public with the prehistoric ancestors of modern animals, enriching both the educational aspect of the zoo and the overall guest experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage individuals of all ages in a fun yet informative environment, aligning with the zoo's ongoing mission of conservation and education.

In addition to the animatronics, familiar annual events at the zoo will also take on a dinosaur-themed twist. The upcoming Zoo Brew event will feature specialty drinks inspired by dinosaurs, including a brew named after the famous T-rex, Pseudo Sue. Furthermore, the beloved Night Eyes Halloween event will be adorned with illuminated dinosaurs, creating a spectacular atmosphere for trick-or-treaters as they explore the zoo at night.

As one zoo official aptly put it, this experience will not only be fun but will also serve as a unique way to share vital conservation messages.
