Celebrate Mother’s Day with Free Admission for Moms at Milwaukee County Zoo
This Mother's Day, the Milwaukee County Zoo is inviting all mothers to celebrate the occasion with free admission from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 11. It's a special opportunity for human moms to enjoy the day surrounded by animal mothers and their adorable offspring, highlighting the importance of maternal bonds in both the animal kingdom and human life.

One of the heartwarming highlights this year is Bactrian camel, Addie-Jean, affectionately known as A.J., who recently welcomed a baby boy on April 20. Visitors can observe this lovely pair enjoying their time together in the Camel Yard, a perfect illustration of the nurturing role of mothers in the animal world.

At the Small Mammals building, guests will find prehensile-tailed porcupine Quinn, who has recently given birth to her sixth porcupette. The bonding experience is incredibly rich, with Quinn and her newborn enjoying exclusive time together, while their father, Seamus, has been temporarily relocated to foster this nurturing environment.
In addition to celebrating local animal moms, the Milwaukee County Zoo is also supporting the Missing Orangutan Mothers (MOM) campaign. This initiative serves to raise awareness about the critical bonds between orangutan mothers and their young, who typically stay with their mothers for about eight years. As part of the festivities, visitors can purchase orangutan-themed cookies and art-decorated necklaces, with proceeds dedicated to conservation and rehabilitation efforts in Indonesia.
While admission is free thanks to the generosity of Peoples State Bank, guests are reminded that parking and regular attraction fees will still apply. Peoples State Bank will also host giveaways at their event booth inside the zoo—an extra incentive to celebrate this special occasion.
This Mother's Day, why not take the opportunity to appreciate the wonderful mother figures, both human and animal, that inspire us with their nurturing spirit? Visit the Milwaukee County Zoo to celebrate the bonds that make motherhood so special!
