San Antonio Zoo Rises to Second Place in National Ranking

According to Newsweek, the zoo has been voted as the second best zoo in the United States, a significant leap from its previous ranking at third place. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the zoo staff as well as the support from visitors and the local community.

Public nominations for Newsweek's annual Readers' Choice Awards led to this honor, highlighting the zoo's continued commitment to excellence. It is not just this accolade that the San Antonio Zoo can boast about; in the same year, it was also recognized for having the "Best Zoo Exhibit" and "Best Zoo Membership" by USA TODAY's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards. This string of accolades positions the zoo firmly on the national stage, proving its value as an educational and recreational facility.

Over the past few years, the San Antonio Zoo has consistently ranked among the best, having received recognition as one of Texas’s top zoos on five separate occasions by various organizations. In the last four years alone, the zoo made it into the Top 10 Zoos in the nation four times and clinched the second overall spot twice. This remarkable achievement is a reflection of the zoo's initiatives, which aim to connect people with wildlife and foster a love for conservation.
