Cruelty Exposed: A Look at the Disturbing Case of a Petting Zoo Owner

In a shocking turn of events, a petting zoo owner in St. Landry Parish has been arrested on multiple charges of animal cruelty, highlighting the dark side of animal care facilities. Khouri Frisch, who owns 2KB Farms and Petting Zoo, now faces 14 counts of simple animal cruelty and one count of aggravated animal cruelty following a thorough investigation by local authorities.

The investigation unveiled a harrowing reality for the animals at Frisch's establishment. They were found living in deplorable conditions, with inadequate shelter and access to clean water. Many of the animals were suffering from untreated medical issues, indicating a grim neglect that violated fundamental standards of animal husbandry. “This type of neglect is unacceptable in our parish,” asserted Parish President Jessie Bellard, emphasizing the community's commitment to the welfare of animals.

Local animal control officials were quick to respond, removing all creatures from the premises, except for a few free-range chickens that were too wary to capture. Fortunately, the animals are now under the care of animal control, where they are receiving necessary medical evaluations and treatments. Some of the severely injured animals were prioritized for immediate veterinary care upon intake, shedding light on the serious health repercussions of their previous living conditions.

The situation raises broader questions about the standards and oversight in petting zoos across the region. With Frisch’s business reportedly not in good standing after failing to submit an annual report, it emphasizes the need for stricter regulations and monitoring in such facilities to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The investigation remains active, and officials warn that additional charges may be forthcoming.

As animal lovers and advocates, we must call for more stringent rules and accountability in the treatment of animals, especially in places where they are meant to be cared for and cherished. The plight of these animals serves as a striking reminder of the responsibility that comes with owning and managing any establishment involving the care of living beings.

To assist in the ongoing investigation, authorities encourage anyone with information related to the case to contact St. Landry Parish Government Investigators at (337) 948-3688. While this event is deeply troubling, it also presents an opportunity for systemic change in the way we view and enforce animal welfare.
