The NFL has a rich 100-year history peppered with multigenerational football families, with dynamic father-son duos where sons either eclipse or aspire to reach their fathers’ legacies. And it seems Frank Gore Jr. might find himself in the latter category, striving to match his father’s extraordinary record.
Just three years earlier, Frank Gore ended a remarkable 16-year career in the NFL, during which he climbed to third on the league’s all-time rushing list. His retirement came even as his son, Frank Gore Jr., was making waves in college football.
Despite having a stellar tenure at Southern Miss, Gore Jr. wasn’t picked in the 2024 NFL Draft. He subsequently signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent, a team his father had played for back in 2019.
However, it looks like Gore Jr.’s stint with the Bills could be over. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that he was cut from the team on Tuesday amid roster reductions. While there’s a possibility for him to remain with the Bills via the practice squad, or to be picked up off waivers by another team, he is currently not in the plans for the team’s Week 1 lineup.
Over his four-year tenure at Southern Miss, Frank Gore Jr. rushed 759 times, accumulating 4,022 yards and scoring 26 touchdowns. He also caught 75 passes, totaling 692 receiving yards. The question now is whether Gore Jr. will make an appearance in an NFL game this season.
