The Eagles’ 8-0 record since the bye week is evidence of many things, but we’re certain that A.J. Brown is part of some recent good momentum.
Every time wide receiver A.J. Brown has stepped on the gridiron for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Birds have earned a ‘W’. Coincidence? Maybe. We don’t think it is. Who are we to ever frown on superstition or logic?
The Eagles have a good chance of winning as long as Brown is healthy, Opposing defenses must game plan for him and account for him on every play whether he touches the football or not.
His numbers are down in Philly’s run-first offense, but he’ll factor into the game plan at some point. We look for a few big moments over the next five games. There are theories suggesting Philly could sweep their remaining games.
The Eagles are 9-0 with A.J. Brown in the lineup this season, and the consensus is they may not lose again.
The Eagles and Brown’s current campaign started with a game in Brazil. They won, and A.J. suffered a hamstring injury during a Week 2 practice session.
He missed three weeks. During that time, Philly notched their first (and second) losses of the season. A bye week came. Batman returned. We all know what happened next.
There was some adversity. Despite suffering a knee injury in Week 9 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philly survived a scare. He was back in the lineup and playing in the Eagles’ next game vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
Thanks to an MVP-level campaign by Saquon Barkley that you may have heard about, A.J.’s usually explosive numbers are down. In nine games, Brown has notched 793 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Could he produce more? Sure. he can. Philly is averaging 25.6 passing attempts per game — the fewest in the league, but they elected to ride the hot hand belonging to Saquon Barkley, but no one should worry about whether or not Brown will shine if the ball comes his way.
Despite, the criticism that the Birds may be freezing Number 11 out of the offensive attack. He is in line and on track to soar past 1,000 yards receiving again this season.
PFF has given him a grade of 91.1. That ranked second among active receivers ahead of Week 14’s action
He’s ‘always open’ and a deep threat. His presence has helped allow for a change of pace from an always-steady rushing attack. It appears Philly’s ‘good luck charm’ can help push the Birds to a perfect 13-0 mark after their bye week. Keep those fingers crossed for a healthy march and, of course, more wins.
