Josh Allen was seen as a favorite to win league MVP with his performance in the Buffalo Bills’ first three games of the 2024 regular season.
As Buffalo’s 3-0 start began to disappear, so too did Allen’s dominance in a way.
During the Bills’ 35-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens two weeks ago, and a 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans, Allen’s play has come into question – especially without a top receiving threat to throw to overall.
Without Stefon Diggs, Allen’s eight touchdown pass to no interception ratio has been excellent, and Buffalo’s offense has taken a major hit against some of the league’s top teams.
Buffalo and their coaching staff aren’t overly concerned, though.
“You go through a season, it’s never a straight line in terms of the path to success,” McDermott said. “You’ve got to go through the ebbs and flows of the season and manage them… I know Josh is as competitive as there is, and we have full confidence in him, and I’m confident he’ll get back to doing that, and that’s important for us.”
Allen is pretty much widely considered the second-best quarterback in the NFL today. He knows his play will be the sole reason Buffalo either wins or loses in some contests.
And with the team trying to keep pace in an open AFC East, the team still feels confident they have the best quarterback out of the other three teams to lead them moving forward.
