Bills’ Defensive Wall Earns Coach Rare Honor

The Buffalo Bills are riding high after a commanding 31-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins, moving them to a 2-0 record. Their defensive performance played a key role in this dominant display, effectively shutting down Miami’s usually potent offense.

While the Dolphins managed 139 rushing yards, their passing game was completely stifled. Star receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle were kept quiet, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw three interceptions before leaving the game with a concussion in the third quarter.

This continues a trend of the Bills’ defensive dominance over Miami, having only lost to them twice since 2018.

This strong defensive showing against Miami contrasted with their Week 1 performance against the Arizona Cardinals, where they struggled to contain the Cardinals’ run game. However, some early-season jitters might have contributed to this. Regardless, the Bills’ impressive 2-0 start is due in no small part to their defense.

The Bills’ defense has consistently been a force to be reckoned with since head coach Sean McDermott’s arrival in 2017. Even with occasional off games, they consistently make big plays and provide quarterback Josh Allen and the offense with excellent field position.

There were concerns about the defense’s ability to maintain this high level after losing key players like Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde. Further injuries to Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard added to the doubts.

However, the Bills’ defense is proving that on-field performance is what truly matters.

The Bills now face a new challenge in Week 3: containing a struggling Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars offense.
