Bills run away with 5th consecutive AFC East title in win over 49ers

Back to the playoffs we go!

Bills Mafia, the success continues on for the Buffalo Bills! With the Miami Dolphins losing on Thanksgiving Day to the Green Bay Packers, all that the Bills needed to do in order to clinch the AFC East was defeat the San Francisco 49ers. In terrible and snowy weather, the Bills beat the 49ers, 35-10.

After a quick three-and-out to start the game, the Bills followed up with three consecutive scoring drives to go up 21-3. It was all Buffalo football throughout the game and San Francisco stood no chance in the cold weather in front of Bills fans.

The obvious star of the show was none other than Josh Allen himself. Since 1970, Allen became the fifth player in NFL history to throw, catch and run for a touchdown, and he is the first quarterback to do it as well.

Even though Allen was the star of the show, it was Buffalo’s rushing attack that was the real MVP in this game. James Cook had over 100 yards on the ground before the end of the first half which included a one-play, 65 yard touchdown run. Cook ended his day with 107 yards on the ground and 13 yards through the air.

Rookie running back Ray Davis was running hard tonight and he managed to get into the endzone himself as well. He continues to be the perfect complimentary back for Cook.

The defense for the Bills played fantastic football throughout this game. While they were struggling against Christian McCaffrey, once McCaffrey went out with a knee injury, the 49ers offense didn’t have a chance to do anything great. The Bills had three takeaways, all of them being fumble recoveries. They were also able to contain the 49ers’ rushing attack of Jordan Mason once McCaffrey was ruled out for the game.

The Bills have clinched the AFC East and they will now be hosting atleast one home playoff game, as of now. With five remaining games on the schedule, the Bills are in the hunt for the number one seed in the AFC behind the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills hold the tiebreaker over them so all that they need is the same record as the Chiefs to jump them in the standings.

With five games left, that is more than possible. However, Buffalo must continue to focus on their opponents solely and let the rest work out for them. Either way, Bills fans should be celebrating as they watch Josh Allen and the Bills take back the AFC East after all the chatter of them “taking a step back” this offseason.
