The Eagles are postseason bound. Let’s make sure we send a couple of NFC franchises some champagne.
When we wrote our imaginary Philadelphia Eagles vs. Carolina Panthers script, there were several things that we didn’t mention, things we saw play out in Week 14 right before our eyes. We didn’t see Bryce Young transforming into what Russell Wilson was in his prime. We didn’t think about several lead changes. We certainly weren’t thinking about a narrow Birds victory.
But, hey… What do we have to complain about? Style points don’t matter, but they’ll be discussed. Philly entered Week 14 knowing they could clinch a playoff berth if they won and received a little help.
Philly took care of their part. Their 22-16 win over Carolina will certainly be dissected with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the horizon. Oh, and here’s the best part. The Eagles received that ‘help’ we mentioned
The Eagles are postseason bound thanks to losses by the Falcons and Cardinals.
Beating Carolina was step one. The Eagles still needed one of ten scenarios to play out to earn their way into the postseason.
They needed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to lose or tie. That didn’t happen, but the Atlanta Falcons did them a solid by losing to the Minnesota Vikings. That meant an Arizona Cardinals loss to the Seattle Seahawks punched their ticket.
Jonathan Gannon’s Cards were bad and lost by a 30-18 margin. That’s good for us. We’ll be sure to send everyone involved some champagne for their assistance.
There’s still work to be done. Philly would be wise not to give up on acheiving the number one seed in the NFC. We’d rather see the Detroit Lions come to Lincoln Financial Field if these two teams were to meet during the NFL Playoffs although something else seems to be playing itself out.
Is it just us, or do the Eagles look like a better team when the play on the road as the visitor?
