Just days before the deadline to finalize their 53-man roster, the Miami Dolphins terminated the contract of veteran quarterback Mike White, who still had a year left on his $8 million deal.
White, 29, saw limited playing time with the Dolphins last season, accumulating only 74 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception. Before his stint in Miami starting in 2023, White played several seasons with the New York Jets, where he passed for 2,145 yards, securing eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Recently, White was in talks to rejoin the AFC East as reports emerged of him visiting the Buffalo Bills this past Tuesday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has confirmed that the Bills will be adding White to their practice squad. With Mitchell Trubisky currently backing up star quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills see value in bolstering their lineup with an experienced quarterback like White.
During the preseason this year, White managed 179 yards but was outperformed by Skylar Thompson, who threw for 379 yards along with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are setting their sights on a strong season under Tua Tagovailoa, who recently inked a substantial four-year, $212.4 million contract extension, featuring $167.1 million guaranteed.
