Golden State Warriors: Draymond Green Has Emotional Confession Over Klay Thompson’s Departure

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has already bid farewell to Klay Thompson, who is now headed over to the Dallas Mavericks after agreeing to a $50 million deal in free agency.

Now, it’s Draymond Green’s turn to speak out on Thompson’s departure. Apparently, Green was unable to hold back the tears when Klay spoke to him face-to-face to tell him about his decision to leave.

Golden State Warriors News: Draymond Green Cried Over Klay Thompson’s Exit

Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, Green admitted that he still has mixed emotions about Thompson’s decision to part ways with Golden State. Apparently, Klay had already told him last week about his plan to leave. It was an emotional moment for the teammates of 13 years:

“I don’t really know how I feel about it,” Green started. “Klay told us last week. … When Klay told me, I was just able to listen. And it wasn’t like, ‘Yo, we could finish like this’ or ‘You should rethink this.’ … Obviously to reassure that that changes nothing for us. Changes the basketball court, obviously, but the relationships, they are what they are. They are forever.

“I think I might have dropped a couple of tears. Tear or two.”

As he said, Green did not try to convince Thompson to stay. Draymond knew that Klay had thought about this decision long and hard, and he knew that this was going to be in Thompson’s best interest. After all, the five-time All-Star did get the bag with the Mavs, which at the end of the day, proved to be one of the biggest factors in Klay’s decision to leave the Bay Area.
