The Green Bay Packers think they have what it takes to win their first Super Bowl since the 2010 season when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Green Bay spent the rest of the 2010s going through constant heartbreak and post-season disappointments.

Jordan Love and the young roster around him have the opportunity to do something special, however, could a two time Super Bowl champion be arriving soon to add that extra guidance?

Colin Keane of The Sporting News highlighted how Blaine Gabbert could join Green Bay and immediately provide some veteran leadership:

The responsible thing for Packers GM Brian Gutekunst to do is go out and sign or trade for a veteran quarterback to play behind Jordan Love.

One option is Bailey Zappe of the New England Patriots, but even Zappe is on the younger side.

A better choice for Green Bay is 34-year-old Blaine Gabbert, who is currently a free agent.

Gabbert has been a part of two Super Bowlvictories as a backup, and his time spent in championship quarterback rooms would be invaluable for the still-developing Love.

Gabbert was listed as a potential fit for the Packers in a recent report by Dan Saia of Zone Coverage.

“Gabbert is not going to be the most tantalizing name out there for Packers fans,” Saia said. “However, he brings the type of recent experience Green Bay should be looking for in a backup. Gabbert is a former first-round pick who has started 49 games in his career. He doesn’t have the most intriguing stats of all time … However, he has a 71% career passer rating and an overall winning record as a starter.”

“He’s also a two-time Super Bowl champion, which he earned by backing up Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes … I’m sure he would be excited for the opportunity to earn a third Super Bowl ring. And who knows? He might even be able to teach Jordan Love a thing or two he learned from two of the best to have ever done it.”

Will Gutekunst prepare an offer for Gabbert before September arrives?

Green Bay is currently in bad shape in the unfortunate event that Love misses time.
