Packers trading seventh-round pick to Titans for QB Malik Willis

Jordan Love appears to have a new backup. The Green Bay Packers are sending a seventh-round pick in the 2025 draft to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for quarterback Malik Willis, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The addition of Willis before final cuts suggests he’ll be the backup behind Love, or at least part of the solution to start the 2024 season. Sean Clifford, a 2023 fifth-round pick, and Michael Pratt, a 2024 seventh-round pick, had been competing during training camp to be Love’s backup.

During the 2024 preseason, Willis completed 20 of 27 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He completed 74.1 percent of his passes and averaged 7.6 yards per attempt.

His regular season experience is limited. Willis has played in 11 career games over two seasons. He completed 35 of 66 passes for 350 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown.

The Titans used the 86th overall pick in the 2022 draft on Willis, a Georgia native who starred at Liberty.

Mason Rudolph is expected to be the backup quarterback behind Will Levis for the Titans in 2024. The Packers play the Titans in Week 3 in Nashville.
