Frightful pics has people thinking mysterious ‘alien’ objects are roaming Stilbaai shore

A rather bizarre story has surfaced in the New York Post involving photos of aliens on a South African beach, and terrified people canceling their beach holidays. But of course it’s a little more complicated than that and a little more fun, if you look at it from the right point of view.

It all started with Jan Vorster’s genuine passion for photography and the beautiful surroundings surrounding Still Bay, his hometown on the South African coast. Vorster woke up at dawn to take pictures of the shore, special photos.

His shots began to make the rounds of Facebook, entering various groups. Vorster was quite flattered at first, until he read the comments… terrified.

“I was surprised by the reactions,” he told Kennedy News. “I thought people were going to enjoy it, but then it got very serious, extremely serious.”

The problem is that the photos showed dead aloe vera plants that the 60-year-old farmer turned upside down, making them look like strange tentacled alien beings emerging from the sea. His intention was actually to communicate the destruction of the environment, with these beautiful dead healing plants trying to take back their world.

Vorster was not understood, let’s say so. Indeed many people believed they were really monsters. The comments went like this:

“I just wanted to cancel my vacation. Because of things like this, I don’t swim. I’m already scared of sharks.”

“Please go back to the ocean.”

“Never seen before in all the years lived on the coast.”

Our hero began to explain what he had done and to calm people down, but on the contrary, people warmed up and someone even started insulting him. Vorster, however, was not demoralized and said he wanted to continue with similar works, because his goal remains to scare people, but not because of the monsters, more for the destruction of the environment.
