The Buffalo Bills are coming off two back-to-back blowout victories against the Titans and the Seahawks, extending their win streak to three. The Bills had a bit of a slump in two of their losses this season, including in games they’ve won (against the Titans and Jets).
Josh Allen had a great game last week besides throwing his first interception of the season. Allen looked comfortable in a noisy Lumen Field, tossing an impressive 70% completion, 283 yards, and two touchdowns through the air.
Allen is still statistically one of the best passers in the NFL this season through Week 8. He’s fifth in passing touchdowns and tied for the league-low interceptions with Justin Herbert.
Now the Bills will face the Miami Dolphins for the second time this season at home, and Tua Tagovailoa will try to overcome his disastrous 1-7 record against the Bills in his career. The Dolphins are looking to stay competitive in the AFC East as they have a dreadful 2-5 record. If the Bills win this game, there’s little possibility that the Dolphins can catch up to the Bills, let alone make the playoffs.
The Bills may have blown the Dolphins out of the water in their last matchup, but they still need to be conscious of the Dolphins’ talent. The Dolphins without Tua are a completely different team. They went 1-3 without him this year, averaging 10 points per game, most of which were scored against a dreadful Patriots team.
The Dolphins are statistically one of the best passing defenses in the NFL. However, their run defense says otherwise, which is one of the big reasons the Bills beat them in their first matchup. So the Dolphins will likely focus on stopping the run, but Joe Brady will likely utilize play action more than in their last matchup against the Dolphins.
Depending on whether most players in the receiving room are healthy, especially Amari Cooper, Allen will have a great day through the air. The Dolphins pass defense may be good, but Allen is better, especially against the Dolphins.
Josh Allen Predicted Stats:
Joe Brady will take advantage of the play-action this game, allowing Allen to toss it to his improved receiving targets and allowing some more deep shot opportunities. Allen will have a nice day through the air, completing 25/31 passes for 362 yards and four touchdowns. Allen will have some success on the ground with 31 rushing yards but no touchdowns.
