Philadelphia’s young cornerback continues to shine in the slot.
Since entering the starting lineup after the bye week, Philadelphia Eagles second-round rookie Cooper DeJean has been a revelation.
Not just as a cover corner like many expected of him out of Iowa, but as an all-around defender.
Whether it’s making clutch tackles, or focusing on some of the tougher assignments in recent memory against receivers, DeJean has been able to help turn around an Eagles defense that has become one of the best in the league in recent weeks.
He’s catching the eye of almost every major analyst as well.
“DeJean has been one of the most impressive rookies I’ve seen all season, immediately showing a veteran level of feel both when matching routes behind him and closing downhill,” Ben Solak of ESPN wrote. “He won more reps against Ja’Marr Chase on Sunday than I can remember a player winning in quite some time.”
DeJean’s performance Sunday against the Bengals quite literally won the game for the Eagles with his fourth-down stop changing the tide of the contest.
With his coverage grade continuing to skyrocket, the Eagles have to be thrilled with how DeJean has looked to this point in the season.
If his success continues, Philadelphia might have two of the best young cornerbacks on their team moving forward with Quinyon Mitchell joining him.
