Steph Curry Reveals Dream NBA Teammate He Never Played With

Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ sharpshooting sensation and four-time NBA champion, has shared the court with a constellation of All-Stars throughout his illustrious career. From David Lee to Kevin Durant and his longtime Splash Brother Klay Thompson, Curry has formed dynamic partnerships that have propelled the Warriors to the pinnacle of basketball success.

However, when asked to name the one player he wishes he could have played alongside, Curry’s answer might surprise you.

In a candid conversation with his father, Dell Curry, on the “Heat Check” podcast, Steph revealed his dream teammate: Tim Duncan, the legendary power forward of the San Antonio Spurs.

“Tim Duncan,” Curry declared without hesitation. “I don’t know Tim that well, but coach [Steve] Kerr mentioned there’s a lot of similarities between the way I approach leadership and development and culture in the locker room, the consistency around it, and the way that Tim handled his career. “

The parallels between Curry and Duncan are indeed striking. Both players are known for their quiet leadership, unwavering commitment to their teams, and relentless pursuit of excellence. While their on-court styles may differ, their impact on their respective franchises is undeniable.

Interestingly, Curry and Duncan crossed paths only once in the playoffs, during the 2013 Western Conference semifinals. Duncan’s Spurs emerged victorious in six games, sending the young Warriors home.

Despite their limited interactions, Curry holds Duncan in high regard, praising his leadership, consistency, and championship pedigree. “He’s a true champion and a winner. … But it’d be awesome to play with him.”

Curry’s revelation offers a fascinating glimpse into the mind of one of the NBA’s greatest players. It highlights the mutual respect between two icons of the game, even as they competed fiercely on opposite sides of the court.

While the dream of seeing Curry and Duncan share the court will remain unfulfilled, their legacies as two of the most influential figures in NBA history are secure. And who knows, perhaps their paths will cross again, this time as teammates in the hallowed halls of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
