The term “hot seat” is often used in the NHL for coaches in jeopardy, according to reports like Luke Richardson being on the hot seat, but it also applies to players needing to prove their worth.

Last season, the Blackhawks saw Petr Mrazek secure another contract, while Mackenzie Entwistle and Jarred Tinordi were released.

This year, three Blackhawks wingers are under the same pressure:

Taylor Hall

After a major knee injury, former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall is entering a contract year with the highest salary on the team at $6 million.

His performance this season will determine his future with the Blackhawks.

Lukas Reichel

Reichel struggled last season, scoring only 16 points in 65 games. Sent down to regain his form, he faces high expectations after signing a new $2.4 million contract.

His future with the team depends on his improvement.

Andreas Athanasiou

Missing most of last season due to injury, Athanasiou only added 9 points in 28 games.

With one year left on his contract, he needs to perform well to avoid becoming an unsigned free agent.

These players are at a critical point, with their future at the Blackhawks dependent on their upcoming seasons.
