Despite better careers compared to Baker Mayfield, Tyreek Hill opted to included the Buccaneers quarterback ahead of Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Aaron Rodgers in his top 5 quarterback list.

Tyreek Hill made a surprise inclusion in his top 5 quarterback list. Besides the usual names of Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa, the All-Pro wide receiver shocked the internet by adding Baker Mayfield to the mix.
Hill’s popular for churning out statements that create a massive buzz on social media. It’s unclear whether the 30-year-old seriously put some thought into compiling the list or was it on a whim, but judging by the tone of his voice, he did appear sincere.
Patrick Mahomes was, of course, the first choice. Hill spent 4 years playing alongside Mahomes for the Kansas City Chiefs, winning his only Super Bowl ring. He left the Kansas City franchise in search of more glory, but in his absence, the Chiefs won 2 more championships.
The next name on the list was his Dolphins teammate Tua Tagovailoa, whom Hill believes possesses all the tools to win a Super Bowl. Last season, Hill achieved his best-ever stats, recording 119 catches and 1799 receiving yards.
In the third position, Hill picked the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. The 27-year-old more often than not gets voted as a top 3 quarterback on most lists. Even though he never played in a Super Bowl, Lamar became NFL MVP twice.
At number four, Hill chose the three-time Pro Bowler, Dak Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback is arguably one of the best regular-season quarterbacks, leading the team to 12-5 finishes in three consecutive seasons. However, Prescott never managed to win more than one game in the postseason. In fact, in 9 games, he has 2 wins and 7 losses for the Cowboys.
Tyreek Hill made a completely out-of-the-box selection for the number five spot. He picked Baker Mayfield, who had a resurgence while starring for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023. Mayfield led the Buccaneers to the NFC Divisional playoff game, which they lost to the Detroit Lions.
The inclusion of a journeyman who only has 2 winning seasons under his belt in 7 seasons was baffling because there were still quarterbacks like the Bills’ Josh Allen or the Bengals’ Joe Burrow available for pickup.
One can easily argue that none of the players on Hills’ top 5 quarterback list have defeated Mahomes, but Allen and Burrow have. While Allen has 3 regular season wins against the 2-time NFL MVP, Burrow is the only active quarterback to defeat Mahomes in a postseason game (Andrew Luck and Tom Brady have retired).
So, based on that assessment, Hill omitting Allen and Burrow from the list definitely made a lot of noise. Only he knows the reason.
