‘We want a new story’: Colin Cowherd believes Jordan Love will win the MVP in 2024 NFL season

Many eyes are on the Packers quarterback Jordan Love in his second year as a starter after a season of exceeding expectations and his signing of a historic contract extension. For sports personality Colin Cowherd, he believes in an even better season is in store for Love following his breakout year.

On his sports talk show “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Tuesday afternoon, Cowherd gave his top five bold predictions for the 2024 NFL season, which begins in just over two weeks. In his fourth hot take, he believes Love will win the MVP award of the 2024 season.

Cowherd believes that with the momentum that Love had ending last season, and the offense around him, will be a recipe for success in Love’s fourth year in the NFL.

“The last 10 starts last year, he was the best quarterback in football,” Cowherd claimed during his daily show. “He’s fresh, he’s fun, also I think they’re stacked offensively with an offensive coach.”

The stats back it up too, as the 25-year-old went 7-3 in the final 10 regular season games, in a season where he was responsible for 36 total touchdowns, 4,159 passing yards, and took the Packers to a divisional playoff round after upsetting the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round.

Cowherd also mentioned by name some of the notable Packer offensive players that he believes will help propel Love into a strong 2024 season, including Jayden Reed, Josh Jacobs, Christian Watson, Romeo Dobbs and Luke Musgrave.

“Young quarterback, generationally aligned with his young receivers and tight ends and o-linemen. I think this offense is magic this year,” Cowherd said.

Since 2019, the NFL MVP award has been Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (2019 and 2023), Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (2022), and former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (2020 and 2021). Cowherd believes it’s time for a new face to hold the MVP trophy.

“I think there’s voter fatigue with Lamar, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers … We want a new story,” he said.

The Packers currently hold the NFL record for the most MVP winners from one team with 10. Rodgers collected four during his tenure, quarterback Brett Favre won three, while quarterback Bart Starr, fullback Jim Taylor, and halfback Paul Hornung all won one each.
