According to oddsmakers, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has taken a commanding lead in the 2024 NFL MVP race.
Allen’s MVP odds have shifted to -450 on BetMGM. This extends the gap over Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley, whose odds have fallen to +400.
Allen has exploded over the past two weeks. In Week 13, Allen hit a remarkable trifecta, scoring a rushing, passing, and receiving touchdown in a 35-10 blowout victory against the San Francisco 49ers. Allen is the only quarterback in NFL history to score a trio of touchdowns in this manner.
Allen followed that performance with a record-breaking game against the Los Angeles Rams. Allen etched his name in the record books for the second week in a row. This time, Allen set another record by scoring six touchdowns. He accounted for three passing and three rushing touchdowns in the loss to the Rams. On top of that, Allen accounted for 424 total yards (342 passing yards and 82 rushing yards) on the evening.
Barkley, for his part, is looking to set the NFL’s single-season rushing record. As of now, he sits 482 yards behind the record set by Eric Dickerson in 1984. If Barkley were to win the award, he would be the first running back to win the award since 2012 when Adrian Peterson earn the honor.
