Did NFL Refs Hand The Bills A Win Against The Cardinals?

A controversial no-call by NFL officials in the waning seconds of Sunday’s Cardinals-Bills game has ignited a firestorm of criticism from football fans. With the Cardinals trailing by six and just 32 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Kyler Murray launched a deep pass towards Greg Dortch near the goal line.

Bills cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram appeared to make contact with Dortch before the ball arrived, preventing a potential game-tying touchdown. However, no flag was thrown, sealing a 34-28 victory for the Bills and leaving Cardinals fans fuming over the missed pass interference call.

Bills fans were outraged after their team barely held on for a six-point win, claiming the referees had rigged the game. Their fury erupted following a controversial finish that saw the opposing team turn the ball over on downs.

Despite being flagged for more penalties overall, a missed pass interference call against the Buffalo Bills proved costly for the Arizona Cardinals in their Week 1 matchup. The Cardinals, now facing an 0-2 start to the season, will host their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, next Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Bills, who benefited from the missed call, will have a short week to prepare for their Thursday night game against Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins.

This isn’t the first time NFL officiating has made headlines for controversial calls, or lack thereof. The season opener between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs also saw questionable officiating, with missed false starts against the defending champions drawing criticism.

While many have called for improvements to the officiating system, such as an expanded replay system or the addition of a sky judge, it seems the NFL is content with the status quo, leaving little hope for change.
