Mike White Sets Humorous Condition to Join Buffalo Bills After Tough Hit from Linebacker

Mike White, the newly signed practice squad quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, injected a bit of humor into his first media session with the team post-practice on Wednesday. Reflecting on his football journey and recent signing after parting ways with the Miami Dolphins, White playfully insisted he had just one stipulation before joining the Bills—steering clear of locker neighbor Matt Milano.

“My one condition for signing here was I just can’t be locker mates with Matt Milano,” White quipped, ensuring a light-hearted tone in addressing the media. The remark stemmed from a less-than-pleasant encounter with Milano, a linebacker for the Bills, during a game in the previous NFL season when White was playing for the New York Jets.

The incident in question took place during a Week 14 game in 2022, where Milano delivered a heavy sack on White. The hit was so fierce it took White out of the game in the third quarter.

Recalling the moment, White humorously noted, “I was pretty sure a piece of my rib ended up on the 30-yard line.” The game eventually saw the Bills triumphing over the Jets with a score of 20-12.

Currently, White is slated as a possible backup to the Bills’ starting QB, Josh Allen, especially with Mitch Trubisky nursing a knee injury. Trubisky’s availability for the season opener against the Arizona Cardinals remains uncertain, possibly opening the door for White to step up.

At 29, White brings not only resilience and experience to his new team but also a welcome sense of humor, potentially lightening up the mood in what promises to be a high-stakes NFL season.
